Six original portraits and seven high-quality prints bring Schenectady’s earliest residents to life. This will be the first chance to see SCHS’s newest acquisition, the portrait of Schenectady Massacre survivor and Native interpreter, Laurence Clause Van Der Volgen. Curator Kathryn Weller and Guest Curator Ona Curran have assembled artifacts, representative of Schenectady during this era and those owned by subjects in the portraits, to help bring the world of 18th century Schenectady to life! Luke McDermott, 22, was severely injured during his 2nd tour of duty in Afghanistan on June 9th. While serving our Country, Luke sustained injuries that forced the amputation of his right leg below the knee and fractures of his left leg, ankle, and foot. Currently, he is recovering at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland.
